About "Aasyah's Raw"
I am Cassandra W. Badr, certified raw food chef, teacher & author. I enjoy writing, reading, gardening, walking, jogging, sewing, travel and painting. "Aasyah's Raw" began as an inspiration through my discovery of raw foods with an internet search for a more holistic and natural way of eating, after many years of yo-yo dieting, starvation, pills, liquids and paying for group meetings and pre-packaged foods. I saw no lasting results, I was left empty and more discouraged and continued to eat more unhealthy diet. I found various sites for raw foods, and thought RAW FOODS!! hmmmm, with such claims as eating everything raw (meat dairy, etc…) and be healthy NO WAY. As I continued my raw food search the more I began to see and understand what raw food is and what it means, so I became a member via the raw food site and lurked around to see what the raw food deal was really about from people who live this way daily. Some were new others have been "Raw Foodist" 10, 20 or more years. Despite my fluctuations in my weight I continued my way of eating because it became my comfort zone that I was not willing to give up. I dabbled with vegetarian to vegan diets and back to vegetarian, so Icontinued with my SAD (Standard American Diet) eating just in a vegan and vegetarian form. later, after further exhausting search, I contacted the owner of the forum and became interested in the raw chef courses, and was connected to a raw teacher in my area, I hesitated for a while and then i took the plunge and enrolled to become a certified "Raw Food Chef" under the teachings of a wonderful woman of "Raw" and "Living" foods Alissa Cohen. Alissa's approach to helping other venture in the raw food world is informative, easy, full of support and resources are awesome.
After a month I received my certificate via mail and thought, "ok I did it now what?" I did not think honestly about making a living to help others at eating a more healthy and vibrant way, when I was a mess myself. In October 2007 I dusted off my certificate and really began to evaluate my purpose to help my self and others achieve a better and vital way of eating for longevity and optimal health. My certificate helped remind me that I have the essential keys, tools and skills to give the gift of healing myself and others to walk a better path of healthy, astute, essential, vibrant life. The adventures raw food has brought me to know and understand is not to rush quickly into 100% raw, (my personal opinion) from experience, after I became psyched before and during October 2007 I kept rushing into raw foods and making a promise to my self that in the long run I could not keep. The temptations kept coming back and I always gave in and felt worse than before, I found that the best way for me to succeed in raw food lifestyle I needed honest, real and ongoing support and that is something I found when I became a member of “Raw Food Talk” www.rawfoodtalk.com.The interaction with “RFT” has given me the support, friendship and resources to make my transition to raw vegan more rewarding and optimal to my lifetime of health and longevity. I am taking my Raw Vegan transition one day at a time and just enjoy each day as it unfolds, there is aways a adventure to tackle and a journey among a path that is less taken.
Wishing you the best in a healthy and optimal life.
